Wanzacs

though these biscuits have been around since WW1, Wanzac Biscuits Wosemary Style have to be tasted to be believed...

WANZAC BISCUITS
1 cup rolled oats
1 cup plain flour
1 cup sugar
3/4 cup coconut
135g butter
2 tablespoons golden syrup
1/2 teaspoon bi-carb soda
1 tablespoon boiling water

Combine oats, flour, sugar and coconut. Combine butter and golden syrup, stir over gentle heat until melted. Mix soda with boiling water, add to melted butter mixture, stir into dry ingredients.

Place tablespoons of mixture on lightly greased oven trays: allow room for spreading. Cook in slow oven 20 minutes. Flatten and loosen while warm, then cool on trays.
Makes about 35 librarian size biscuits

talk about photogenic libarians

they came from everywhere those book loving libarians...well prepared to promote the cause of the Book Chat on 28th Nov...they were so obliging...from the pastel girls in front to the tall guy in the middle, the balance of colour, height and book interest were very diverse. Funny but Matthew Reilly seemed to get the big gig! I wonder why Sarah??? Can't wait to see the real thing in Monday's Leader..thanks Lea, Rob, Aidan, Sarah and Bernie

you mean you get paid to do that!!

what a great day it was today...despite a few early drops of rain all was forgotten when lots of kids started arriving for the Kids Week Picanica ..very exciting!
Duncan SES P was a bit of a hit, Pam's Cafe operating through the smashed up window went really well despite competing with the footy club guy selling 80 cent snakes, Jenella's rendition of 'Make Your First Card a Library Card' went straight to number one.

Lots of kids, lots of Departments, worm farm won by St Martins who performed their repetoire beautifully. Police Band were really cool, especially when Council staff joined them for the Maccareena..those who didn't quite make it or who don't do children's missed a treat

what a day!

who would've have ever thought when the date was picked for the Japanese cultural hour many, many months ago that the day would've turned out so randomly chaotic!
What a hoot, desks moving in and Franco Cozzo moving out, couldn't find the chair mover, microphone left on all week, roadie Aidan had a go at fixing it, roadie Jenelle was busy with the laptop, vu Peter sticking down cords, Katie running the library removalist company, Lea calmly organising the curator for the Manga exhibition, not to mention consultant to the MC.
I never did hear how the 3 minute tour at AM went but they turned up at Alt wanting to use the loo and the key wasn't there! The garden did get peaked at, as well as the Manga display..rush, rush, rush ...translating the event sure did add a lot of time to it.
So inspirational and great to see so many young people in the library, so positive and showing what they can do...I think the delegation may have enjoyed it..they did laugh when they saw the picture of the sushi train!
Anyway off to the bush dance tomorrow, can't wait to see those Library Gals dance to the lager phone!

Taking it to the Streets

well on Saturday I went to the Classic Car show at the King of Newport's Bakehouse (otherwise known as Sammy's) ... I got so excited as I was handing out flyers for the Hot Rodding event at Altona!

Did I get excited because I was freelancing for the library in my own time, or because the sun was out or because there were some really hot and really cool cars?

No..none of the above, the excitement rose within me when I was handing out the Hot Rod Cruizin flyers and two people said 'I know Rod' and one guy even put the flyers on his dashboard as a free promotional.

Check out Peter who knows Rod promoting the event for free!

this is how I discovered that AWF does not stand for All Want Food!

AWR

well today I called in at Altona to chat with the Manga club about next Friday's Japanese gig and wow what a scene! I now know what AWF means..I had no idea..I thought it was All Work's Fun or All Work Friends! Seems like it had something to do with the big mess...

and speaking of next Friday, come along at 4pm cause we are gunna see some positive teenage performance and pride, you will have to be there to believe it!

legins and stockings

well I wore my legins and stockings (only stocking socks) to work today and though my teenage daughters told me I am too old to wear them I rebelled and wore them anyway!

Katie and Amanda did not back me up and they did not back my daughters up the crucial question today was should I wear stockings under legins?

What do you think, is it becoming for a nearly middle age (30 is the new 40 you know) libarian to wear legins with stocking socks?
